Many things make me proud to be a New Zealander, and one thing in particular is how progressive we have been in ensuring equality. While same-sex marriage only recently became legal in New Zealand on 19 August 2013, it’s actually been 30 years since the Homosexual Law Reform Act made waves in 1986.
This weekend, SkyCity and Rainbow Auckland are celebrating with a colourful celebration at Sky City hosted by one of my besties, the fabulous and fantastic Colin Mathura-Jeffree, and the gorgeous Ali Mau. There’s a few more tickets available, so come and celebrate in colour and style. Also featuring: Annie Crummer, Dust Palace, Mika, The Topp Twins and DJ Duo Sweet Mix Kids.
I haven’t really blogged a lot specifically about gay marriage, but only because I don’t think there’d be much which would be different about organising a same-sex wedding, so I’m sure I’ve had homosexual readers follow the wedding planning articles and guides. I did write an article on Marriage Equality following the news that the Supreme Court of the United States of America had ruled striking down same-sex marriage bans. I’d love to hear how you think I could do more!
We recently stayed at Bethells Beach, which I know specifically caters to same-sex weddings, and the wonderful Trude & John eager would be eager to help make your wedding dreams a reality.
Lavish Events also has beautiful styling services available including expertise in same sex weddings.
