How to ask your bridesmaids to be part of your bridal party – “Propose” to your ‘Maids!

Peter Alexander Bridesmaid Robes

Once you’ve chosen your bridal party, how will you go about asking your chosen girls (and/or boys) to partake in your celebrations? It’s your turn to ‘Pop the question!’

Do you want to plan something cute, creative or quirky, or thank them in advance for their help with a thoughtful gift? Will you be asking each of them in person or would you like to send your proposal in the mail? Just like your proposal, this doesn’t need to be expensive or elaborate, just a thoughtful gesture to your closest friends to remind them of how much you love them and why you’re asking them to be by your side on your ‘Big Day’.

Once you’re ready though, here are my favourite ways to “Propose to your Bridesmaids”

  • If you’re lucky enough to have them all in the same city, take them out for a champagne brunch and you can all celebrate together.
  • Send a letter and personal handwritten note (confetti optional) telling them how important they are to you and why you can’t say I do without them. You can buy or download a free printable card as a base to start with.
  • Ask them in a fortune cookie
  • A “tie the knot” ring from Etsy.
  • Create a bridesmaid proposal box (for inspiration take a look at something blue bridal subscription box)
  • Will you be my bridesmaid wine label stickers
  • Customised cookies or cupcakes (if they live far away, find a local baker)
  • Buy a set of PJs or satin robe to wear on the wedding morning.
  • Make a little scrapbook of some of your time together, leaving the last few pages blank to fill in with your celebrations to come.
  • With a “Will you be my bridesmaid” poem:
    • When spring 2020 is here
And I will be a blushing bride.
Would you do me the great honor
      As bridesmaid by my side?
    • On my wedding day, I will need you more than ever.
Please say you’ll be my bridesmaid now…. and my friend forever
    • Please stand by my side
      when I say “I DO”
      for I wouldn’t be me
      without a friend like you
    • When I am walking down the aisle, a very happy bride,
It would mean so very much to me to have you by my side.
